Analyzed is a simple plugin for Windows Media Player written to be compact and minimalistic. It is a upgrade to the old Barr plugin which is not supported anymore.

The compatibility information above records the original testing; these instructions describe the original release.

Download

Download Analyzed version 0.6.0 and start the installation application. The installer should automaticaly detect the folder in which Windows Media Player is installed and install the plugin into that folder. You should now see a new entry called Analyzed when you right click on the Visualization area in Windows Media Player.

Audio Analyzer

Kurve is a simple Windows multiplayer game you can play with your friends. The objective is to stay alive for as long as you can.

Download Kurve version 1.0.0 and extract it using your favorite archiver.

Controls

Press Space to start a game after all players have joined by pressin their left key. Space continues after all players die/the game ends. Pause pauses/unpauses the game.

Red player: Left Arrow for left, Right Arrow for right.
Green player: 1 for left, Q for right.
Blue player: Y for left, X for right.
Yellow player: G for left, H for right.
Magenta player: Left Mouse Button for left, Right Mouse Button for right.
Cyan player: Page Down for left, Page Up for right.

Photo Resize

Make a smaller copy of a photo for emails and messages. Your original stays just as it is.

Photo Resize is a free, offline Android utility. The rebuilt version is in internal testing; the public Google Play listing is not yet available.

Open Photo Resize and choose one photo with Android’s photo picker. Or tap Share in your gallery and choose Photo Resize.

Pick Small (1000 px), Medium (1600 px), or Large (2400 px). These limits apply to the longest edge; smaller images are never enlarged. See the actual encoded file size before sharing through Android’s familiar sharing menu. File-size savings depend on the image and format.

Events reads calendars already available on your Android device. It offers resizable widgets, independent calendar selection, transparent backgrounds, and a companion agenda.

The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or internet permission. Your calendar app continues to handle synchronization and event editing.

Dodavanje widgeta

Otvorite Events, dopustite pristup kalendaru i odaberite kalendare. Zatim otvorite Widgeti i dodirnite Dodaj na početni zaslon. Widget možete dodati i dugim pritiskom na početni zaslon te odabirom stavke Widgeti.

Nedostaju kalendari?

Events čita kalendare dostupne Androidu. Provjerite sinkronizaciju računa u svojoj aplikaciji za kalendar. Neke aplikacije čuvaju podatke zasebno i ne dijele ih s Androidom. Events ih ne može izravno prikazati.

Ažuriranje kasni?

Android može odgoditi pozadinski rad radi uštede baterije. Otvorite Events i dodirnite Osvježi. Provjerite dopuštenje za kalendar ako ga je Android automatski uklonio. Events ne traži dopuštenje za točne alarme niti stalno pokreće pozadinsku uslugu.

Pristup kalendaru

Uz vaše dopuštenje Events čita kalendare i događaje iz Androidova pružatelja kalendara. Nazivi kalendara, oznake računa, boje, naslovi, datumi i vremena koriste se samo za prikaz odabranih kalendara u aplikaciji i widgetima.

Obrada na uređaju

Events ne prenosi podatke iz kalendara nama ni drugim uslugama. Nema dopuštenje za internet, korisničke račune, oglase ni analitičke biblioteke te ne održava zasebnu bazu događaja. Android i početni zaslon zadržavaju prikaz widgeta kako bi bio vidljiv i kada je aplikacija zatvorena. Događaje mogu vidjeti osobe koje vide vaš početni zaslon.

Open Events, allow calendar access, choose calendars, then open Widgets and select Add to home screen. You can also touch and hold your home screen, choose Widgets, and find Events.

Missing calendars?

Events reads calendars shared with Android. Check account synchronization in your calendar app. Some apps keep calendars in their own storage and do not expose them to Android. Events cannot display those calendars directly.

Updates taking a while?

Android can delay background work to save battery. Open Events and tap Refresh. Check calendar permission if access was automatically removed. Events does not require an exact-alarm permission or a permanent background service.

This policy explains how Events, provided by Miha Software, handles information.

Calendar access

With your permission, Events reads calendars and event instances from Android’s Calendar Provider. It uses calendar names, account labels, colors, event titles, dates, and times to show your selected calendars in the app and home-screen widgets. Access is used only for these features.

On-device processing

Events does not transmit calendar information to us or to other services. The app has no internet permission, accounts, advertising SDKs, or analytics SDKs. It does not keep a separate event database. Android and your launcher retain rendered widget information so it can remain visible when the app is closed. People who can see your home screen can see the events displayed there.

Photo Resize je besplatna Android aplikacija koja radi na uređaju. Obnovljena verzija trenutačno je u internom testiranju; javna stranica na Google Playu još nije dostupna.

Odaberi, smanji, podijeli

Otvori Photo Resize i odaberi jednu fotografiju putem Androidova izbornika fotografija. Ili u galeriji dodirni Dijeli i odaberi Photo Resize.

Odaberi malu (1000 px), srednju (1600 px) ili veliku kopiju (2400 px). Ograničenje se odnosi na najdulju stranicu; manje fotografije nikad se ne povećavaju. Prije dijeljenja vidiš stvarnu veličinu pripremljene datoteke. Smanjenje datoteke ovisi o slici i formatu.

Zašto nema neke opcije ili datoteka nije manja?

Photo Resize nikad ne povećava fotografiju. Nudi veličine manje od izvorne najdulje stranice. Prozirni PNG može ostati velik jer aplikacija čuva prozirnost. Izvornik ostaje nepromijenjen, uključujući metapodatke. Za animirane slike dostupan je izvornik kako bi se sačuvala animacija.

Photo Resize obrađuje fotografije na tvom uređaju. Nema korisničkih računa, oglasa, analitike ni dozvolu za pristup mreži. Autor ne prikuplja fotografije ni druge osobne podatke.

Aplikacija pristupa samo fotografiji koju odabereš ili podijeliš s njom. Izvorne datoteke nikad se ne mijenjaju. Manje kopije ne sadrže lokaciju ni druge izvorne metapodatke. Dijeljenjem izvornika zadržavaju se izvorna datoteka i metapodaci.

Privremene kopije nalaze se u privatnoj predmemoriji aplikacije. Pri sljedećim pokretanjima uklanjaju se kopije koje nisu korištene 24 sata. Android može ranije očistiti predmemoriju. Kopije se ne uključuju u sigurnosnu kopiju aplikacije.

Make a smaller attachment

Choose a photo in the app, or share one from your gallery to Photo Resize. Wait for the file sizes to appear, tap a size, and choose your email or messaging app. Cancelling Android’s sharing menu returns you to the photo.

Why is an option missing or not smaller?

Photo Resize never enlarges a photo. It offers presets below the photo’s original longest edge. A transparent PNG may remain large; the app preserves transparency instead of replacing it with a solid background. Original is unchanged, including metadata. Animated images offer Original so their animation is preserved.

Photo Resize processes photos on your device. It has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or network permission. The developer does not collect your photos or other personal data.

Only the photo you choose or share with the app is accessed. Original files are never modified. Resized copies omit location and other source photo metadata; sharing Original preserves the original file and metadata.

Temporary copies stay in the app’s private cache. On subsequent launches, copies unused for 24 hours are removed. Android may clear the cache earlier. Copies are excluded from app backup.

I really like Google Auto-Awesome’s panorama stitching, it allows you to take full resolution, HDR shots and then stitches them for you automatically. But, often I find that it does a relatively poor job at balancing the exposure, which should not be that hard of a job since it does the stitching in a offline stage where it can look at all the photos making a panorama upfront and has useful EXIF exposure data in every photo…

This is a nice example of Google’s “vertical stitching”. The image was made by taking two rows of landscape photos which were then automatically stitched to produce this relatively tall panorama. Very nice results for a photo taken with a mobile phone that has a “disappointing” camera (as online reviews always say for Nexus phones)…

Another example of how nice Auto-Awesome photos can turn out. There are a couple of stitching errors if you go looking for them, but nothing noticeable enough to spoil the image. The person closer to the center actually appeared on two shots in completely different poses and was successfully removed and merged into the final shot without producing any visible artifacts. How awesome are computer algorithms? :)

This one is a more recent shot, done after Google’s March 2014. update to Google+. The exposure balancing is much better now, there are no visibile brightness differences in individual stitched images, giving the panorama a much better, seamless look. The only downside is that artifacts apear on those images whose exposure needed to be drastically changed. Here, you might see blue-ish tint and some compression artifacts on the leftmost part of the panorama (the very edge actually), since the first image had the lowest exposure and needed to be boosted the most. An interesting thing about this shot is that it was taken from two different windows in two different rooms of an apartment and there’s no way of telling that by just looking at the image :)

I’ve finally dug-up the source-code for the Analyzed Windows Media Player plugin from my old Windows PC and managed to open it in Visual Studio 2013. The last modified file was from 2007 :) It’s been 7 years, and the original was writen when I was just starting my first year of college.

I was amazed to see the old Visual Studio 2005 project open up without issues in the latest 2015 IDE and compile without any errors with the newest toolset. Also, creating a x64 build and compiling it went without a hitch, just a couple of uncarefull casts needed to be fixed to get rid of warnings.

Android's New Runtime

There has been a lot of talk recently about Google’s new ART runtime for Android which debuted with the recent Android 4.4 update. ART (which stands for Android Runtime) means to replace Dalvik, the current runtime on top of which (most) Android applications execute. Dalvik has been a part of Android since the beginning, being one of the core components of the whole operating system.

As user applications on Android are meant to be written in Java (see Google having issues with Oracle about this), the runtime is the component which runs the compiled Java applications on the device and connects them with the rest of the operating system (applications are not much fun by themselves if they do not use the graphics system to display user interfaces, the networking system to send and receive data etc).

Last week I found some time to add a Photography section to the site. I take lots of photos with my mobile phone and some of them turn out to be really cool or interesting. I’ll try to put up some of these photos with a small description of why I thought the particular photo was worth sharing.

I’m really interested in improvements to the core photography experience on Android. Ever since the iPhone 4 and it’s remarkably good camera raised the bar, more and more casual photographers are moving to the mobile world. There are multiple reasons for this: it’s simply more practical to not have to carry a camera with you most of the time and on occasions when you usually would not think about carrying a camera, you have you mobile phone available to take a photo of some, unexpected, nice scene.

I’ve finally taken the time to arrange a dedicated web server and created a more professional and comprehensive website. There will still be some ongoing effort to improve the design and content so do not perceive this as complete yet.
